Just sit right back
And you’ll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this sunny port,
Aboard this tiny …
Sorry, wrong show… now, back to the Coopers in Switzerland…
Yesterday, we hopped aboard the “Zug” for a three-hour tour around Lake Zug. The pier was about 300 meters from the Rail City, so we took a bus from our apartment down to the shore. Of course, we had to stop by the local gelato stand for a treat, then strolled along the shore to get to the launch. The swans were swimming, the sun was shining and the air was nice and crisp.
The views were amazing from the observation deck; Mt. Pilaus, Mt. Rigi and the snow-covered Alps in the distance. The boat stopped at several towns along the way, including Cham, Risch, Goldau, and Walchwil. We compared the local bell towers, shoreline hotels and other architecture along the way. We also enjoyed an impromptu song by some locals. I asked them what the song was about. They said it was a “song of the people,” and I confirmed that it was an old Swiss folk song that simply praised the beauty of the nature surrounding Lucern down to Risch and beyond. Watch the video for a little snippet of the tune.
So join us here each week my friends,
You’re sure to get a smile…
And on goes the show.
