Aaron’s work gave everyone a Snow Day on Friday and organized reservations for lunch on the mountain at Flumserberg ski area. Since our car is limited to 5 passengers, and because we simply enjoy spending time with our friends, the Nebletts, we traveled to Flumserberg in a caravan. Aaron & Zach rode with Andrew and Margaret’s van while Wendy and Roger, Aaron’s cousins from Iowa, accompanied Kim and Katelyn.
It was a great day of skiing and sledging. Zach traded skis for a sledge this time because his forearm was still healing from a compression fracture caused by a fall during his school ski trip to Wengen. He had a fantastic time there and his arm is healing nicely. Toward the end of the day Andrew and Margaret decided to join Kim and the kids to try sledging too – grinding their heals into the icy end-of-season snow as they steered through the hills. Kim and Katelyn, our resident sledging pros, weighed Flumserberg against the sledging experience at Mürren and Andermatt. So far, Andermatt is the winner. All are pretty fun. Andermatt is just a little safer and a longer sledge run.
We met up with many of Aaron’s colleagues at the Chrüz restaurant on the slopes mid-day, hung our ski helmets and enjoyed some warm Swiss meals, including chicken curry, chicken with butter and salad, Spätzli, macaroni and more.
The day was clear, relatively mild and a great way to close out the ski season as temperatures continue to climb into the 50s and 60s here, ushering up flowers and sunny skies.

Roger was there too, but for some odd reason, no one has a photo of him on the slopes. Not sure why.
- We loved looking at this mountain with the swirl of snow. It looked like a fun run from a distance.

Bellissimo giardino! I confini della roccia sono un bel tocco. Organic Caprese sarà meraviglioso.
Come sono i vostri cani? Spero che i cani sono diventati stare vicino a casa per farti compagnia.
Alla prossima,
