Views of Menaggio, Bellagio, Varenna

Today, we slept in, then Kim drove us over to Menaggio to catch a ferry to Bellagio. We had thought we might tour Varenna, but our local host told us it was a small town with not much to do. It is indeed small, but I think when we’re here with our friends, the Wagners, we might check out the Castello di Vezio atop Varenna. You’ll see it in one of the photos.

We had a very, very relaxing day as we took our time walking the cobblestone streets and alleys. We enjoyed window shopping and collected a few collectibles. Grandpa and Grandma gave Katelyn and Zach a little spending money to enjoy in the shops. Katelyn purchased a pretty purple Murano glass heart necklace and Zach and I walked up to a local watercolor artist’s shop. The artist was recommended by a local lady (Owner of our favorite Murano glass shop) who graciously answered my question, “Where can we find some real, classic local art?”

We finished the day at Melo and Franca’s, of course. It was a beautiful, sunny day and, while we’re all a bit tired, our time here is regenerative in many ways.

This morning I said a prayer, thanking God for our safety, health and time together (and for Kim’s amazing driving skills in these narrow streets).

I appreciate the pictures of the Basilica. It looks like you had a lovely visit to Italy. I’m glad you survived the Italian roads.
