Thursday, Katelyn participated in the all day events of Sports Day for Grades 3-5  for the International School of Zug and Lucern (ISZL) combined campus event at Herti. Over 300 students participated throughout the day in events judged by grade level and team.

The children are divided at the beginning of the school year into 4 teams and have coordinating shirts for gym. RED= Jaguar team, WHITE: Cougar team, BLUE: Panther team, and the YELLOW: Leopard team. It makes playing team sports throughout the school year easy to divide up the kids. Katelyn is on the Jaguar team. Throughout the day, the students are assigned to activities and compete against their grade level. The scores are also add to an overall team score. Katelyn started off her morning with a casual 800 meter run in the pouring rain. She then moved onto Javelin Throw as the drizzle continued. Next up was the High Jump on to soaking wet foam mat. Last was the 4×50 meter Relay race. Then it was lunchtime. The afternoon consisted of awards ceremonies and grade level games of “Football” (Soccer to Americans), Uni Hockey and Jailbreak. For the grade sports, they were divided into their team colors and competed against other grade 5 students of the other 3 teams. Grade 5 Jaguars won these events. For the overall Grade 3-5 scores for the entire day were as follows. Fourth place: Cougars, Third place: Jaguars, Second place: Panthers, and First place: Leopards. For the best spirit and sportsmanship of the day went to Team Cougars. For Katelyn’s scores… read the captions of the photos.
