And They’re OFF ….

Katelyn and Zach were up bright and early this morning to prepare for departure for their PDW’s (Personal Development Week). ISZL (International School of Zug and Lucern) sends their students in grades 3-12 on a 5 -8 day international trip as a class to build bonds amongst the students and staff as well as challenge the students to learn about themselves. Some of this years trips included: Iceland, Nepal, Kenya, Italy, Greece, and France to name just a few. Grades 5-12 are traveling this week. In two weeks, grades 3 & 4 will be traveling.

I drove everyone to the Zug Banhof (main train station here in Zug) this morning. Zach had to catch the 648 train to the Zürich airport with his grade 10 classmates & staff before boarding a private charter plane to Crete (island of Greece). That is about 90 students and 10 or so staff members. While in Crete, they will be participating in hiking, rock climbing, swimming with sea urchins, kayaking, bonding time with fellow classmates and so much more. Zach’s trip is more of a physical challenge and to discover what they are able to accomplish. Weather in Crete is to be in the mid 80’s and sunny. We wish them all a safe journey. Just a side note: Crete did have a 5.0 earthquake last week, but it did not cause any significant damage.

Katelyn had to catch the 731 train from Zug to Milano, Italy then to Florence, Italy before finally arriving in Cortona, Italy about 530 this evening with her grade 6 classmates & staff. That is about 100 students and 10 or so staff members. Katelyn will be learning about medieval history of the Tuscany region of Italy. They will take day trips to from Cortona to Orvieto and Siena. Weather in Italy is to be in the mid to upper 70’s all week. We wish them all a safe journey.

God’s blessings on your week and safe travels to all the ISZL students.
