Ephesus, Turkey Day 3

Today we toured the Ephesus ruins, starting from the top at Mary’s house. It is thought to be where Mary lived with John after the crucifixion of Jesus. We strolled through the streets of ancient Ephesus, down marble roads with chariot traction, to the library, past fountains and into the grand theatre where Paul once stood. We could see the flat land where there was once a port on the Aegean Sea, bringing people from far around to the temple of Artemis. We visited St. John’s Basilica in the region, then a mosque below.

Our tour guide from Tours by Locals, Denizhan, then took us through the Ephesus countryside to visit a ceramic maker, a local market for lunch and local carpet weaving school.
