Who doesn’t love…. cheese…. chocolate…. and castles….? Off to Le Gruyères, Switzerland!!


We have heard so many of our friends tell us that “you have to get to Le Gruyères before you leave”. So we finally managed a day trip. They were right. It is a beautiful and educational place to visit.

First, we toured the Le Gruyères Cheese factory. We watched two workers take the milk through the whole process of making the cheese with the aid of an audio guide because this is the French speaking part of Switzerland.

Then we headed down the road to Broc, Switzerland to the Nèstle factory where we learned about making Caillier chocolate. Pronounced Ki-ya. We also got to sample all kinds of tasty morsels.

After lunch, we toured the castle grounds of the Le Gruyères Castle and shops.
