Zugerchriesi – Cherry Festival in Zug

Today, we decided to head down to Alstadt Zug (old town) and take in the sights and sounds of Cherry Festival – Swiss style. Canton Zug is known for its cherry crops. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a very loud donkey braying that immediately went into a Swiss folksong by a band sitting nearby. I don’t think it was planned that way, but it was a festive way to enter the festivities.

Cherry festival had everything Cherry- candy, wine, beer, liquor, cheese with cherries, brats with cherries inside, dried cherries, jams and preserves of cherries, cherry pit hot/cold packs…. everything cherry including a variety of fresh cherries to sample and purchase. They even had a cherry pit spitting contest. Katelyn, Aaron and Zach decided to hold their own pit spitting contest at home.
