No Blues at The Blue Lagoon in Grindavík

After an overnight flight to Keflavík, a taxi ride to the Cheap Jeep shop and a few minutes of confusion as we tried to find the Subaru gas cap lever, we traveled south to the Blue Lagoon.

The lava field in Grindavík was a mix of black lava rock, lichen and moss. We wound through a path to the front entry of the lagoon, then donned our swimsuits and slipped into the smooth, hot, very blue water.

We soaked for a while, had lunch at the Lava Restaurant, then soaked some more, enjoying scrubs and silica sand treatments.

A relaxing way to ease into Iceland – especially after a blast of cold rain and high winds as we exited the plane in the morning.

Tomorrow we’re off to the Árnes Hostel in Selfoss.

Some amazing photos, Aaron. Glad you all are having a great time. We were just talking in a meeting and Molly S. mentioned that she is heading to Italy (Lake Como) next week. I told her to connect with you. It reminded me to check out your family trip pics to Iceland.

Steph, glad you checked out the blog. More photos coming soon. I hope Molly has a chance to check out Pizzeria Balognett in Tremezzo, just down the hill from Hotel La Perla. If she goes, she can say hello to Melo and Franca from the Coopers 🙂
