Skogafoss, Black Sand and Hello to Joel

Today we made the most of the clouds and drizzle, beginning with a visit to the Skogafoss waterfall right outside our hostel in Skógar. Aaron and the kids walked behind a cliff into the mist near the waterfall.

Next, we needed to leave to get to the airport to pick up our friend Joel, who joined us from Switzerland. Along the way we followed signs to find a wide black sand beach near a ferry port, where we could search for shells and check out the drift wood, buoys and other washed up shipping paraphernalia.

After a stroll along the beach we met Joel at the airport, then traveled up the west coast to Borgarnes, where we walked around town around midnight. There is plenty of light all night long in Iceland during this time of the year.
